This month, I have been working on editing my videos. I spent a lot of time color grading, which sounds simple but is very time consuming. I have also found music for both videos and have edited parts of both of them! I'm proud of my progress and am excited to continue working on these projects!

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been editing the Reagan wedding video! So far it's going well-- I've chosen my music and have been working on taking all the potentially usable clips and organizing them in Final Cut. It's definitely time consuming, but worth it! The couple wanted the song to be Precious Love by James Morrison, and gave me a couple more songs to use if I need to.
Over the last few weeks, I organized all of my footage from my last 2 shoots and began editing! I've spent a lot of time listening to different music tracks and watching example videos to help me get a better idea of the direction I want to go in for each video. As expected, this is a very time consuming process. I like being able to sit down and work for hours, so it is certainly hard to be able to do this during the school year when I have so many other things going on. However, I am proud of my progress and excited to continue editing in the coming months!
Last weekend, I filmed my second wedding! It was a super fun day and I got a lot of great footage. I taught myself how to use a Ronin S gimbal which was pretty difficult, but I think it added significantly to the stability of my footage-- something my first video lacked as my tripod broke during filming. It also allowed me smooth movement which added to the visual interest of my clips. My next step is to get to editing and I also need to find music to pair with my footage. I expect this to be pretty time consuming, so I know I have to get moving! Overall, I am happy with my progress and am excited to take the next step!
Over the past few weeks, I have been preparing for my upcoming wedding on October 23rd! I've been organizing what equipment I will need, how long I will need it for, and other logistics that have to be worked out. I sorted the footage from the Reagan wedding into folders so it will be easier to pull footage from during the editing stage. Right now, I am planning on waiting to start editing until I have filmed the Lacia wedding as I do not want to try to do too many things at once and make mistakes. I'm looking forward to filming the wedding next weekend and am excited to meet with the other Severn Fellows tomorrow during lunch!
I am so honored to be a full Severn Fellow! After meeting with my mentor, Ms. Johnson, it was clear what my fall goals would be. First, I would need to film the Reagan wedding on September 18th and then proceed to edit the footage. I also knew that I would be filming the Lacia wedding on October 23rd, and would have to organize my equipment and then put together the video. Another goal was to find an additional client-- this is much less set in stone than the other goals as I don't know how long each video will take to edit. Lastly, I would love to connect with a National Geographic filmmaker and talk to him about his experiences in the industry! I am super excited to complete these goals and move towards finalizing my project and cannot wait to see how the videos turn out!
Over the past few weeks, I've been preparing for my upcoming wedding September 18th. I happened to be a guest at a wedding this past weekend, and it definitely helped me gain another perspective besides that of just the videographer. My supplies I rented is supposed to come on Thursday and I'll definitely have to spend some time getting to know the camera and the lenses. I've shot a wedding at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel before so I know the layout fairly well, but I still need to make sure I know the all family members. I also need to practice giving my presentation tonight to prepare for the real-deal tomorrow morning!
Over the past few weeks, I've been preparing for my upcoming wedding videos! I had a call with my Sept. 18th client last week and we talked through the details of her daughter's wedding. It was great to hear from her and her husband and I got a better sense of what I'll be doing for them. She also sent me pictures of key family members so I'm able to identify who I should be focusing on for the video easily. I'm placing my equipment rental order today and am planning on using a Cannon 6D mark II and a 50 mm lens. I've done a lot of research and concluded that this would be the best pair for me and my video! The only thing I'm a bit nervous about for this wedding is that my client wants me to film just the reception after the ceremony, so I'm worried my content will be limited. However, I know I can make a great product for her and it might be nice to have videos varying in style-- whether I include them all in my final project or not.
Over the past couple of weeks, I worked on getting client(s) for my project. I am happy to report that I locked in a wedding on October 23rd! My client is Greek and her husband is American, so the wedding should be an awesome mix of cultures and customs! I'm very excited to have the opportunity to capture their day. I also have a wedding planned for September 18th. Interestingly, this client heard about me from a friend and inquired about me filming her daughter's day. She also happened to be my gym teacher when I was in elementary school! I plan on asking her if it's okay to use the video as a part of my project-- whether it will end up in the "final" or not I'm not sure of. I'm very excited about where my project is going; my next step is to get all my gear together get the itinerary of their days!
It's hard to believe August is already here! For the past couple of weeks, I've spent a lot of time planning my fall work and creating a timeline for the smaller details of my project. I made a post on Facebook that explained my project and the type of client I am looking for and have received some responses of people very interested! My next step is to connect with them and determine whether they or not would be a good fit for my project. Another thing I have been thinking about is the length of my video. The videos I helped make with Rivion were much shorter than my previous video, and I'm wondering if I would better serve my community by doing multiple shorter videos rather than just one extensive one. I'm planning on discussing this with my mentors to get their input. I'm very excited by the "action" of my project approaching this fall and am trying to fully prepare myself for the business that will ensue!
