It's hard to believe August is already here! For the past couple of weeks, I've spent a lot of time planning my fall work and creating a timeline for the smaller details of my project. I made a post on Facebook that explained my project and the type of client I am looking for and have received some responses of people very interested! My next step is to connect with them and determine whether they or not would be a good fit for my project. Another thing I have been thinking about is the length of my video. The videos I helped make with Rivion were much shorter than my previous video, and I'm wondering if I would better serve my community by doing multiple shorter videos rather than just one extensive one. I'm planning on discussing this with my mentors to get their input. I'm very excited by the "action" of my project approaching this fall and am trying to fully prepare myself for the business that will ensue!

The last few weeks have not gone as planned but have taught me valuable lessons about working in the film industry-- plans are constantly changing! Rivion removed their livestream services because there were too many technical issues (meaning I would not get to learn how to do this/execute it by myself). I asked if it was possible for me to shadow some of the editors this week but was also told that this was not a great time. Instead, I've devoted the past couple of weeks to planning for the future. I've spent hours camera, lens, and equipment shopping looking for the best products to suit my needs. I've also decided that I think I'll be able to reach a great number of possible clients through Facebook-- specifically through the Annapolis Moms group that my mom is a part of. I wrote something for her to post to the group in March asking for recommendations for local wedding videographers and a lot of people replied! This is how I found out about Rivion and a number of other talented groups. I plan to write out a post today so I can nail down this aspect of my project while I have plenty of time to get organized!
Attached is the URL to the first wedding video I helped shoot! This video is about 30 seconds, but the one I plan on making this year will be much longer and will cover a greater portion of the day!
